Gilmours International Wine Competition 2021

Be part of our inaugural International Wine Competition – entries open 1 February

Welcome to the first annual Gilmours International Wine Competition – a competition to recognise quality, international wines in New Zealand.

The Gilmours International Wine Competition offers wineries an opportunity to take part in the only business-to-business (B2B) international wine competition in New Zealand, enabling you to get your wine in front of all trade types, within our Foodservice members.

The winning wines will be rewarded with brand exposure showcased at launch tradeshows and in-store tasting events, along with promotion through our Gilmours Online site and in our Cash ‘n Carry stores. You will receive full marketing support through POS in-store, alongside listing exposure with our Sales teams promoting your wines to over 25,000 of our targeted trade type Foodservice members.

The tradeshow events are an opportunity for the wineries to get in front of and speak directly with targeted Foodservice Members to showcase your winning wines. These wines will also be included in a suite of collateral to support the tradeshows and promotional channels, that will help bring your wines to life in the on-premise channel.

Gilmours is proud to be the only food and beverage wholesaler that has everything you need, from our one stop shop.

Who can Enter?

Any supplier, producer, distributor, or agent with wines fitting the entry criteria can enter this competition. You don’t need to be an existing supplier to Gilmours or Foodstuffs to enter the competition – new suppliers are welcome and actively encouraged, you simply need to express your interest to put forward a wine by the specified dates.

How will the wines be judged?

Entries will be judged using a double-blind identification system and the Chief Steward, Jo Gear, will ensure the competition is run to the highest industry standard.

Jim Harré will chair the event with an independent panel of expert wine judges. The judges will be Sam Kim (Wine Orbit) and Simon Nunns (Consulting Winemaker).

The competition and judging will take place on 22 March 2021.
