Introducing Amanda Kooiman, new Owner Operator for Gilmours Wellington

My journey with Gilmours Wellington began in 2016 as Health & Safety and Compliance Manager. From the outset, I developed a passion for the business and the Foodservice industry. Over the years, I have progressed through a range of leadership roles, gaining valuable experience across different areas of the business.

Prior to that, I spent 11 years in the warehousing and logistics industry. Moving into Foodservice introduced a new level of pace, complexity, and customer focus, which continues to challenge and motivate me today.

Four years ago, I was appointed Operations Manager. During that time, our team successfully implemented a Warehouse Management System, a major project that challenged every area of the business to review and improve the way we worked. Through this, I became interested in learning more about business ownership. With excellent support from Foodstuffs and Matt Humphrey (Owner / Operator) a highly customer-focused leader and mentor. Now becoming the first female Gilmours owner is something I am very proud of, and it has been made even more special by the support and encouragement I have received.

Tell us a little bit about where you are from
I was born and raised in Wellington; it has always been home. Having spent half of my life in Wellington City and the other half in the Hutt Valley, I have a strong connection to the wider region and the communities within it.

Being an Owner in the city I have always called home is something I am incredibly grateful for. The opportunity to run a business here, connect with our community, and contribute to the region makes this position I am in even more meaningful and special to me.

What do you want to achieve for yourself and for Gilmours Wellington?
My goal is to continue building on the success of the Gilmours brand and strengthening our position as Wellington’s most trusted foodservice partner.
