Gilmours International Wine Competition 2022

Welcome to the second year of the Gilmours International Wine Competition – a competition to recognise quality, international wines in New Zealand.

The competition offers wineries an opportunity to take part in the only business-to-business international wine competition in New Zealand, and get their wine in front of our Foodservice customers.

Our goal is to create a list of 20 gold standard international wines that have been judged by a highly acclaimed panel and would sit proudly on any of our customers' wine lists.

A two-day judging event will take place in March and Emma Jenkins (Master of Wine) will chair the event with an independent panel of wine judges experienced in international wine.

Judges are Sam Kim (Wine Orbit) and Simon Nunns (Consulting Winemaker) and the event will be run by Chief Steward Jo Gear.

Entries will be judged using a double-blind identification system meaning all wines will be tasted blind and judged based on their style, region and vintage.

This year we encouraged vineyards to enter wines from lesser-known grape varieties or origins, with the aim of showcasing new exciting international wine for our customers.
